Prep sites report that LogicMonitor screens business analysts and data engineers with the Criteria Cognitive Aptitude Test (CCAT), but we could not confirm it with the employer. Data roles carry Criteria's highest suggested floor, so we estimate 29 to 32 out of 50 for data engineers and 27 to 30 for business analysts. Ask your recruiter which assessment you will take.

Thin evidence
A prep site (Prepopedia) lists LogicMonitor as using the CCAT as an early screen for business analyst and data engineer roles. We could not confirm this with LogicMonitor.
Our estimate, not LogicMonitor's cutoff. The highest Criteria suggested floor among the reported roles is 24 (Data Analytics and Statistics), the highest floor Criteria publishes for any job family. We add 5 to 8 points for a typical software employer to get 29 to 32.

About LogicMonitor
LogicMonitor sells a cloud platform that monitors servers, networks, applications and cloud services for IT teams.
Its customers watch dashboards full of metrics, alerts and trends, so the people who build and analyze the product work with numbers and charts every day. A screen built on math, logic and reading charts is a reasonable fit for that work, whichever test it turns out to be.
Business analyst vs data engineer: why the targets differ
Criteria publishes a suggested minimum score for each job family. Data Analytics and Statistics is at 24, the highest on the list. Analyst is at 22. Those floors are the starting point; employers often hire well above them.
That two-point gap carries into our estimates. A data engineer at a software company competes with candidates who are fast with numbers, and the bar likely reflects it. A business analyst is judged more on judgment and communication, so the math bar may be a little lower, but the verbal and logic items count for more.
For data engineer candidates
Most data engineers clear arithmetic quickly. The points they leave on the table are in sets and Venn-style counting, where it is easy to double count, and in table items, where the trap is reading the wrong row in a hurry.
Treat the CCAT like a query: read the question, find the exact field, compute once. Overlap questions get a one-line formula: total equals A plus B minus both, plus neither.
For business analyst candidates
Business analysts usually do well on verbal items and lose time on spatial ones. Learn a method for rotations and visual sequences, and learn to skip a tile puzzle that does not resolve in 15 seconds.
Then make the table questions automatic. A business analyst who reads a chart in 10 seconds has time for the logic items, which are where analyst judgment shows.

1
Application and recruiter screen
No public reports describe the order. Prep sites call the test an early screen.
2
Emailed assessment link
In a typical Criteria flow, a link to an unproctored online test on Criteria's platform, due within a few days.
3
CCAT, possibly with a personality questionnaire
50 questions in 15 minutes, no calculator.
4
Technical or case interviews
Data engineers usually face SQL or pipeline questions; business analysts a requirements or metrics exercise. Not reported for LogicMonitor specifically.
Steps are as candidates describe them. Processes change by role and over time.
Tips for the LogicMonitor CCAT
Data engineers: memorize total = A + B - both + neither, then use it for every overlap item.
Business analysts: give yourself 15 seconds on any spatial item before guessing.
Use the role comparison above to pick the estimate that matches your posting.
On ordering items, sketch a line and place each person as you read the clue, not after.
Ask the recruiter whether the data team uses an extra technical assessment, so you can split prep time sensibly.
These are our own practice questions, written in the CCAT's formats. LogicMonitor does not publish its test questions, and neither does Criteria. For a full timed run, take the free CCAT practice test.

Answer: B, 0
In June, the values are 220 and 220. Subtract the smaller from the larger to get 0.
The fast route
Find the exact row and column before calculating.
Question 2Overlapping groupsMedium
Of 48 club members, 16 play tennis, 31 play chess, and 6 play both. How many play neither game?

Show the answer and the fast route
Answer: C, 7
At least one: 16 + 31 − 6 = 41. Neither: 48 − 41 = 7.
The fast route
Add both groups, subtract the overlap once, then compare with the total.
How we estimate
LogicMonitor does not publish a CCAT score, so the numbers on this page are our estimate. We start from Criteria's published job-family floors for the roles candidates report, then place them against Criteria's two norm groups, where the median raw score is 24. We adjust for how competitive the applicant pool is, and we use an employer's own published baseline whenever one exists.
Percentiles come from a normal model on Criteria's published median and standard deviations, shown as a range across both groups. See the CCAT percentile chart for the method and what a good CCAT score is for the published job-family floors.

Questions, answered
Does LogicMonitor really use the CCAT?
A prep-site list reports it for business analysts and data engineers. We could not confirm it with LogicMonitor. Ask your recruiter which assessment you will take.
Why is the data engineer estimate the highest?
Criteria's suggested floor for Data Analytics and Statistics is 24, the highest it publishes. Our estimate starts there and adds a margin.
What score should a business analyst aim for?
We estimate 27 to 30 out of 50, from Criteria's Analyst floor of 22 plus a margin. LogicMonitor publishes no score.
Is there coding on the CCAT?
No. The CCAT covers math, verbal, logic and spatial reasoning. Any coding test would be separate.
Can I use a calculator?
No. Criteria does not allow a calculator on the CCAT, so practice mental math with the clock running.
