Mediaocean appears on prep-site lists of companies using the Criteria Cognitive Aptitude Test (CCAT), but the evidence is thin and we could not confirm it with the employer. If your invite is a Criteria test, we estimate 27 to 30 out of 50 is competitive for analyst roles and lower for client services. Ask your recruiter which assessment you will take.

Thin evidence
A prep site's list of CCAT employers (PrepCCAT) names Mediaocean, in connection with reports about Vista Equity Partners portfolio companies. We found no candidate reports or employer statement confirming it.
Our estimate, not Mediaocean's cutoff. Reports do not name roles, so we map common adtech roles to Criteria job families. The highest floor among them is 22 (Analyst). We add 5 to 8 points for a typical software employer.
Where the CCAT sits in Mediaocean's hiring process
1
Application and recruiter contact
No public reports describe Mediaocean's sequence.
2
Assessment invite, possibly unnamed
Invites sometimes say only "online assessment". In a typical Criteria flow, the email links to an unproctored test on Criteria's platform and names Criteria in the sender or link.
3
CCAT and possibly a personality questionnaire
If it is the CCAT: 50 questions in 15 minutes, no calculator. Personality questionnaires are a common add-on.
4
Interviews
Typically recruiter, hiring manager and team interviews. Not reported for Mediaocean specifically.
Steps are as candidates describe them. Processes change by role and over time.

About Mediaocean
Mediaocean makes software that advertising agencies and brands use to plan, buy, track and pay for media.
Prep sites describe Mediaocean as a Vista Equity Partners portfolio company and list it alongside other Vista companies that reportedly use Criteria tests. Our Vista Equity Partners page gathers those reports. Treat a portfolio connection as a hint, not proof.
When the invite does not name the test
Many invites say "please complete our online assessment" and nothing more. Before you prepare for the CCAT specifically, find out which test you are taking. Three checks usually settle it.
If none of those settle it, prepare for the CCAT anyway. Timed math, verbal and logic practice carries over to most general aptitude tests, so the work is not wasted.
Look at the sender and the link. Criteria tests usually come from Criteria's platform and name it.
Check the instructions for the format. The CCAT is 50 questions in 15 minutes.
Reply to the recruiter and ask which assessment it is and roughly how long it takes. That is a normal question.
Adtech roles and the skills the test touches
Adtech work is detail work. Media plans, insertion orders and invoices have to match line by line, and a wrong digit costs a client money. That is close to what the CCAT's exact-match items test: compare two strings and spot the one that differs.
Percentages show up everywhere too: budget pacing, click-through rates, margins. If your role touches campaign data, make percent change and percent-of-total automatic before the test.
Engineers at an adtech company face the same clock as everyone else. Their usual gap is verbal speed, so a week of synonyms and sentence completion is a better use of time than more number sequences.
Criteria floors are from Criteria's sample score report. Our estimates are not published cutoffs.

Tips for the Mediaocean CCAT
If the invite does not name the test, ask the recruiter before you spend a week on CCAT prep.
On exact-match items, compare character by character from left to right instead of reading for meaning.
Numbers with similar digits, like 6 and 8 or 1 and 7, are the usual traps on matching items. Slow down on them.
Practice percent-of-total with round numbers until 35% of 80 takes you three seconds.
If the test turns out to be something other than the CCAT, keep the timed practice; the skills transfer.
Practice questions in the same formats
These are our own practice questions, written in the CCAT's formats. Mediaocean does not publish its test questions, and neither does Criteria. For a full timed run, take the free CCAT practice test.

The fast route
Check the end of long addresses; floor and suite details change often.

Answer: A, 392
The discount is 20% of 490, or 98. The new price is 490 − 98 = 392.

Find 10% or 1% first. For an original amount, divide by the remaining fraction.
How we estimate
Mediaocean does not publish a CCAT score, so the numbers on this page are our estimate. We start from Criteria's published job-family floors for the roles candidates report, then place them against Criteria's two norm groups, where the median raw score is 24. We adjust for how competitive the applicant pool is, and we use an employer's own published baseline whenever one exists.
Percentiles come from a normal model on Criteria's published median and standard deviations, shown as a range across both groups. See the CCAT percentile chart for the method and what a good CCAT score is for the published job-family floors.

Questions, answered
Does Mediaocean really use the CCAT?
It appears on a prep-site list of CCAT employers, but we found no candidate reports or employer statement confirming it. Ask your recruiter which assessment you will take.
My invite just says online assessment. Is it the CCAT?
Check the sender, the link and the stated format. A Criteria CCAT is 50 questions in 15 minutes. If it is still unclear, ask the recruiter; it is a normal question.
What score would Mediaocean want?
Mediaocean publishes no score. We estimate 27 to 30 out of 50 for analyst roles and 22 to 25 for client services, based on Criteria's floors plus a margin.
Is Mediaocean part of Vista Equity Partners?
Prep sites describe it as a Vista portfolio company. Testing habits can differ across a portfolio, so do not assume a Vista connection means the CCAT.
What if it turns out not to be the CCAT?
Most general aptitude tests cover similar math, verbal and logic skills under time pressure. Timed practice still helps.
