Yes, candidates report it. A senior software engineer applicant on Glassdoor describes the CCAT, 50 questions in 15 minutes, as an early step at Acquia. Acquia does not publish a cutoff; our estimate for senior engineers is about 26 to 29 out of 50, with 28 as a target.

Estimated target score
28/50
An estimate, not a published cutoff.
A senior software engineer candidate on Glassdoor reports taking the Criteria Cognitive Aptitude Test, 50 questions in 15 minutes, as an early step in Acquia's process.
Criteria's suggested floor for Software Development is 20. We add a typical tech-employer margin of 5 to 8 points and lean one point higher because the reported role is senior. Acquia publishes no score; this is our estimate.
Typical; not described in the report.
Reported as an early step: 50 questions, 15 minutes, online.
Typical next steps; not described in the report.
Typical for senior engineering roles; format not reported.
Steps are as candidates describe them. Processes change by role and over time.
The numbers below use our estimate for Acquia: a range of 26 to 29 out of 50 with a target of 28. Nothing is saved. If you ask Clever below, it sees your numbers.
Acquia builds a digital experience platform rooted in the open-source Drupal ecosystem. Its senior engineers are hired for judgment and depth, and those habits are exactly what hurts on the CCAT. Fifteen minutes for 50 questions leaves 18 seconds each. Verifying every answer, the way you would review a pull request, burns the clock by question 30.
Criteria says fewer than 1% of test takers finish all 50. Experienced engineers who score well usually do it by answering what they can see quickly and guessing on the rest, not by being right on everything they attempt.
Decide before you start how long you will spend on a single question. Twenty-five seconds is a reasonable cap. When you hit it, pick the most likely option and move on. Do not return to it later; budget that time for the questions still ahead.
This feels wrong to people who are used to being correct. In practice, five quick guesses across the hard questions cost less than one question you spend two minutes on.
If-then questions read like code, and engineers usually do well on them. The trap is the converse. If a report is final, it has a version number. A report with a version number may or may not be final. When the question asks about the reverse direction, the answer is usually Uncertain.
Visual sequences reward the same habit: find the rule in the first two steps and apply it, rather than describing every tile.
Use the pace check on this page with numbers from a timed practice test: how many questions you reached and how many you got right. It shows whether that pace can reach the target, and how much faster you would need to be.
If you reach only 30 to 35 questions with high accuracy, try reaching 40 or more at slightly lower accuracy. With no published penalty for wrong answers, that trade often scores better. The fix is the cap, not more knowledge.
| Role | Criteria job family and floor | Our estimate | Note |
|---|---|---|---|
| Senior software engineer | Software Development: 20 | 26 to 29 | The reported role. Senior candidates are often compared against each other, so the floor alone is not a safe goal. |
| Software engineer | Software Development: 20 | 25 to 28 | Not reported separately. If you are invited at a non-senior level, the same test applies with a slightly lower estimate. |
These are our own practice questions, written in the CCAT's formats. Acquia does not publish its test questions, and neither does Criteria. For a full timed run, take the free CCAT practice test.

In Nora’s system, the following rule always holds: If a report is final, then it has a version number. For the item in question, a report is final. Conclusion: it has a version number. Is the conclusion True, False, or Uncertain?
Answer: A, True
The stated condition is satisfied, so its consequence must follow.
If A implies B, not B implies not A. B alone does not prove A.
Acquia does not publish a CCAT score, so the numbers on this page are our estimate. We start from Criteria's published job-family floors for the roles candidates report, then place them against Criteria's two norm groups, where the median raw score is 24. We adjust for how competitive the applicant pool is, and we use an employer's own published baseline whenever one exists.
Percentiles come from a normal model on Criteria's published median and standard deviations, shown as a range across both groups. See the CCAT percentile chart for the method and what a good CCAT score is for the published job-family floors.

Candidates report it. A senior software engineer applicant on Glassdoor describes the Criteria Cognitive Aptitude Test, 50 questions in 15 minutes, early in the process.
Acquia does not publish a cutoff. Our estimate is about 26 to 29 out of 50, from Criteria's suggested Software Development floor of 20 plus a margin for a competitive senior role.
No. Criteria publishes no penalty for wrong answers, so a quick guess is better than an empty answer or a question that eats a minute.
Experience helps with logic, but the CCAT measures speed as much as reasoning. Timed practice matters more than seniority.
No. It is math, verbal, logic and spatial reasoning, with no programming content.
