# iCIMS hiring: the CCAT and the behavioral quiz, for every role

By [Avi Flombaum](https://avi.nyc) · Updated October 13, 2026

Candidates report that iCIMS gives the CCAT, together with a behavioral quiz, after the recruiter screen, and that it applies to staff across the company rather than one department. iCIMS publishes no cutoff, so our estimate is 25 to 31 out of 50, with 28 as a target, higher for financial analysts and lower for account executives.

## iCIMS and the CCAT at a glance

**Evidence it uses the CCAT**

Strong evidence

Candidates on Glassdoor describe the iCIMS CCAT by name (15 minutes, as many questions as possible) alongside a behavioral quiz, and report it for software, sales, finance and integration roles. iCIMS does not publish a score.

The highest Criteria suggested floor among the reported roles is 22 (Analyst, for financial analysts). We add 5 to 8 for a typical tech employer, which gives 27 to 30, and extend the low end for sales roles, whose Criteria floor is 19.

## Where the CCAT sits in iCIMS's hiring process

1. ### Recruiter screen

A first conversation with a recruiter, which candidates report before any testing.
2. ### CCAT and behavioral quiz

Candidates report the CCAT (15 minutes, answer as many as you can) together with a behavioral quiz. Software candidates also report a separate coding exam.
3. ### Hiring manager and team interviews (typical)

Interviews follow for candidates who clear the assessments. The details vary by department.

Steps are as candidates describe them. Processes change by role and over time.

## Can your pace reach iCIMS's target?

The numbers below use our estimate for iCIMS: a range of 25 to 31 out of 50 with a target of 28. Nothing is saved. If you ask Clever below, it sees your numbers.

Projected score 23 of 50: below the estimate

- Answer 8 more questions (38 in total) at 75% accuracy.
- Or lift accuracy to 94% on the 30 you already answer.

The CCAT score is the number you get right. This projection counts no lucky guesses.

## A test for every role, not just engineering

iCIMS makes talent acquisition software that employers use to post jobs and manage applicants. Candidates report that it uses the CCAT for staff across the company: software developers, account executives, financial analysts and integration specialists all describe it.

That breadth is a clue to how the test is used. When everyone takes it, the bar usually varies by role, the way Criteria's own suggested floors do. Use the role table on this page and aim for the top of your role's range.

## Two tests in one sitting: the CCAT and the behavioral quiz

Candidates report a behavioral quiz alongside the CCAT. A behavioral or personality questionnaire asks how you tend to work, not what you can solve, so there is nothing to drill. Answer honestly and consistently; trying to guess an ideal profile tends to produce contradictions.

If you can choose the order, take the CCAT first. It is the one with a clock, and it deserves your freshest 15 minutes.

## "As many questions as possible"

One iCIMS candidate summed up the CCAT as 15 minutes to answer as many questions as possible. That is the right mental model. The test has 50 questions, and Criteria says fewer than 1% of people finish them all.

So nobody expects you to finish. For a target near 28, you need roughly 28 right, which might mean answering 35 to 40 with good accuracy and guessing the rest. Decide in advance how long you will spend before guessing, and stick to it.

- Set a personal limit, such as 30 seconds, before you guess and move on.
- Guess on every skipped question before time runs out.
- The score counts correct answers. There is no penalty for a wrong guess.

## Integration specialists: logic and detail

Integration specialists connect a customer's systems to the product, which means reading rules carefully and spotting the one field that does not match. The CCAT's logic and detail items test the same habits: overlapping groups, if-then statements and exact-match pairs. They reward a steady method more than raw speed, so practice them until the method is automatic and the time comes down on its own.

## Question types to drill first

- [**Overlapping groups** Two-group overlap questions show up in many forms and take seconds once you add, subtract the overlap, and check the remainder. Logic questions with worked examples](https://clevercatprep.com/ccat-logic-questions)
- [**Sentence completion** A verbal type that rewards reading the whole sentence for its turn (but, because, although) before picking a word. Verbal questions with worked examples](https://clevercatprep.com/ccat-verbal-questions)
- [**Tables and charts** Essential for financial analyst roles, which carry the highest suggested floor of the roles reported at iCIMS. Math questions with worked examples](https://clevercatprep.com/ccat-math-questions)

## Roles at iCIMS reported to include the CCAT

Criteria floors are from Criteria's sample score report. Our estimates are not published cutoffs.

| Role | Criteria job family and floor | Our estimate | Note |
| --- | --- | --- | --- |
| Financial analyst | Analyst: 22 | 27 to 31 | The highest floor of the reported roles. Tables and percentages carry this one. |
| Software developer | Software Development: 20 | 25 to 30 | Candidates report a coding exam in the same process, separate from the CCAT. |
| Integration specialist | IT and Computing Systems: 21 | 26 to 30 | Technical, customer-facing work. Logic and detail items matter here. |
| Account executive | Sales / Account Executive: 19 | 24 to 28 | The lowest Criteria floor of the group, with a typical sales margin. |

## Tips for the iCIMS CCAT

- Find your role in the table. iCIMS tests every department, and the bar likely varies by role.
- Take the CCAT before the behavioral quiz if you can choose the order.
- Answer the behavioral quiz honestly and consistently. There is no profile to rehearse.
- Set a time limit per question before you start, and guess when you hit it.
- For sentence completion, find the signal word (but, because, although) first. It tells you whether the blank agrees or contrasts.

## Practice questions in the same formats

These are our own practice questions, written in the CCAT's formats. iCIMS does not publish its test questions, and neither does Criteria. For a full timed run, take the [free CCAT practice test](https://clevercatprep.com/free-ccat-practice-test).

Question 1 Overlapping groups Medium

Of 53 club members, 24 play tennis, 43 play chess, and 19 play both. How many play neither game?

- A. 19
- B. 48
- C. 67
- D. 5
- E. 53

**Show the answer and the fast route**

**Answer: D, 5**

At least one: 24 + 43 − 19 = 48. Neither: 53 − 48 = 5.

The fast route

Add both groups, subtract the overlap once, then compare with the total.

Question 2 Sentence completion Harder

Choose the word or words that best complete the sentence. Because the evidence was \_\_\_\_\_\_, the jury found it difficult to \_\_\_\_\_\_ the defendant.

- A. overwhelming … acquit
- B. circumstantial … convict
- C. conclusive … convict
- D. circumstantial … acquit
- E. damning … blame

**Show the answer and the fast route**

**Answer: B, circumstantial … convict**

Because links cause: circumstantial evidence makes conviction difficult.

The fast route

Words like although and because tell you whether the ideas contrast or agree.

## How we estimate

iCIMS does not publish a CCAT score, so the numbers on this page are our estimate. We start from Criteria's published job-family floors for the roles candidates report, then place them against Criteria's two norm groups, where the median raw score is 24. We adjust for how competitive the applicant pool is, and we use an employer's own published baseline whenever one exists.

Percentiles come from a normal model on Criteria's published median and standard deviations, shown as a range across both groups. See the [CCAT percentile chart](https://clevercatprep.com/ccat-percentiles) for the method and [what a good CCAT score is](https://clevercatprep.com/ccat-score) for the published job-family floors.
