# Australian Public Service (APS) CCAT: what is known and how to prepare

By [Avi Flombaum](https://avi.nyc) · Updated October 13, 2026

APS recruitment assessments vary by agency and campaign. There is no universal CCAT requirement or published APS CCAT cutoff; use your candidate pack to identify the test.

## Australian Public Service (APS) and the CCAT at a glance

**Specific CCAT use is not confirmed.** General aptitude testing does not establish a CCAT requirement. No employer score target is shown.

The APSC describes recruitment using interviews, work samples and sometimes psychometric testing. TestCCAT describes transferable aptitude practice, not a verified APS-wide CCAT requirement.

Check the assessment name, format, retake window and permitted preparation in your invitation.

## Match preparation to your recruitment stream

A generalist campaign, a specialist stream and an individual agency vacancy can assess different skills. Read the candidate information pack before choosing drills; check eligibility and assessment arrangements alongside the test format.

## Percentages for public-sector numerical exercises

For transferable numerical practice, work on percentages, rates and reading short quantitative statements. A CCAT practice score does not predict an APS campaign result.

- Ask the recruiter about retakes and accommodations before your attempt.
